EULIS

Does your business take you into Europe – then become a pilot user of EULIS

We are currently looking for Customers who would like to be pilot users of the new facility (which will be added to the Land Registry Direct menu for all users at a future date) which will allow them to link into EULIS and make enquiries in the services of the countries mentioned below.  If you think you would make use of this service and would like to be a pilot user please email admin@landregistrydirect.gov.uk with your contact details as soon as possible to express your interest. Someone will then contact you to discuss the requirements.

 What is EULIS?

EULIS is the European Land Information Service. It is a network of European land registries who are working together to provide electronic access to land registration information and services to customers throughout Europe. The following countries are currently participating in EULIS: England and Wales, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Austria, Finland, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Other countries are expected to join. For more information see the website eulis.org.

Wjy has this service been established?

The intention behind EULIS is to support a single European property market and cross-border lending by providing information about how conveyancing and registration systems work in the various member countries and to allow customers to access information and services in other countries on-line. EULIS is working  towards all European land and property registration services being readily available through a single portal.

The Lithuanian and Dutch services offer a map search facility. All countries allow a search using a postal address. Each country's site is different and there are therefore some extra details provided on each which may not be available on other services websites.

 How does it work?

The EULIS Portal is a way of allowing a customer in one country to access via their domestic on-line service, the on-line service in another EULIS country. At present the services of Norway, Sweden, Lithuania, the Netherlands, England and Wales and the Republic of Ireland are live for access from other countries.

For example, you might want to obtain property ownership details  for land in Sweden. You might also want to obtain official copies for a specific property and want information to explain what the entries on the register mean. You would do this by logging-on to the Land Registry Direct service which would then give you access to the EULIS Portal.

Likewise, a customer in Norway for instance would access the Portal and another country's on-line service through the Norwegian service.
