Mapping

Ordnance Survey (OS) launched a new national mapping system in November 2002 replacing the LandLine Map that Land Registry currently uses. OS MasterMap is a single intelligent map without edges made up of layers, each providing an information theme such as roadways and land types. It offers many benefits, including enhanced spatial searches.

We have been in close discussion with OS on the timing of the planned withdrawal of LandLine. As their largest single customer we hope to choose the best time for the transition and we are working closely to ensure that any changeover does not cause major business interruption. We intend to make best use of MasterMap's new features and a project team plans to build a prototype system to demonstrate the potential benefits of adopting MasterMap data.
